The care

Final care for the deceased is crucial to restore dignity and allow for a proper farewell. We specialize in caring for the deceased. This can be done at home, in a nursing home, hospital, or funeral home. Once the final care is complete, we can immediately lay the deceased out on a bed, in the coffin, or on a bier. Please contact us for specific arrangements. We aim to be with you within two hours, if desired.

Thanatopraxy

Thanatopraxy

We strive for the highest quality in our laying-out services, so that relatives can say goodbye to their loved one in a peaceful manner. If we believe that laying-out cannot proceed smoothly with cooling, we recommend thanatopraxia. Thanatopraxia, also called light embalming, is a laying-out method that does not require a cooling plate. Instead of cooling, the body is preserved by replacing the body's own fluids with a preservative. Laying-out after thanatopraxia offers many advantages: * Heat does not affect the progress of the laying-out. After thanatopraxia, the deceased does not need to be cooled because decomposition is completely halted. This laying-out method is particularly beneficial on warm summer days. * Because no cooling is required, relatives are not bothered by the humming sound of a cooling device. This allows for saying goodbye in peace. * The deceased regains their natural color. With laying-out using a cooling plate, the deceased appears livid. Because the preservative also contains dyes, the lividity disappears after thanatopraxia. * In addition to lividity, blue discoloration in the neck, nails, and ears also disappears. As a result, little or no makeup is often needed during the wake. This gives the deceased a natural appearance. Despite these wonderful advantages, we would like to mention two potential disadvantages. First, for hygiene and safety reasons, thanatopraxia is not performed at home. This means the deceased must temporarily leave the house so the treatment can take place. Second, this method of laying out the body carries a higher price tag than traditional cooling. However, we believe the cosmetic advantages and the carefree feeling during the wake outweigh the additional cost.
